ABLE Founder Ashley Ludwig Presents Two Sessions at the 2023 ASLA Conference in Minneapolis
Ashley Ludwig presented as part of two educational sessions for the 2023 ASLA Conference held in Minneapolis, Minnesota in October. She spoke to the inspiration for starting ABLE and the realities of firm start-up, among other topics, with fellow firm founders Brice Maryman of MxM Landscape Architecture and Lauren Cantrell of Delineator in a session titled “What Revolution Do You Want To Lead?” And Other Essential Startup Questions. Framed around questions like “I don’t come from generational wealth, can I still do this?,” the session provided a transparent and honest view of firm start-up.
As part of the session Unraveling Rural Myths: Strategies for Building Community and Investment in Rural Landscapes, Ashley joined Amanda Craig of the Trust for Public Land and Lynny Brown of Willamette Partnership to discuss the realities of working in rural communities and the importance of building trust and community along with the construction of new landscapes. They highlighted the impact of the Oregon Rural Community Schoolyards program with emphasis on the work in the small town of Chiloquin, Oregon.
Session audio recordings can be found at ASLA’s Online Learning website.
