Community Visioning for Rainier Community Center Play Area Renovation
ABLE and Seattle Parks hosted engagement activities at three community events to talk with people about the beloved play area in need of a refresh. Through surveys, drawings, and conversations, we learned about how people currently use the play area and what they might like to see there in the future.
From those conversations and feedback, ABLE developed three concept options for community input. We heard from kids and families about which elements they were excited about, what they liked and didn’t like about the options, and what we should prioritize in the final design. According to the community, the resulting design will priorities comfort to be an accessible and climate resilient space, and immersive playground, and a connected distinctive space.
